Ingredients: 1/2 cup of sugar 1/2 cup of water Williams Sonoma Mulling Spices (if it's off season, often you can order it from ebay) 2 bottles of red wine 1 cup of Triple sec or Cointreau Orange/Peach/Mango juice from Trader Joe's (or something equivalent) Directions:
Put the spices in a mulling ball (or you can strain it later if you have a funnel with a strainer), water, and sugar in a small saucepan. Simmer the spices with the sugar and water until the the sugar is dissolved and the spices are fragrant (about 3-5 minutes) In a large pot, empty two bottles of red wine. Put the spices and sugar mix into the red wine, and let it sit for at least 20 minutes. Add the triple sec or Cointreau Return the wine back to the bottles. If straining the spices out, make sure you do so before returning to the bottles. When ready to serve, pour half wine and half juice in a serving pitcher. Slice apple into very thin, 1" pieces. |
